No Way Back For Tomasz Adamek

As Tomasz Adamek, 40-1, (27) entered the ring at his adopted Newark, New Jersey, it was visible this was now a true heavyweight.  Not only did he appear bigger but good news for Goral’s fans, he seemed to have added the extra pounds in all the right places, his calf’s and thighs looked bigger a sure sign he has been taking the transition seriously and there is little chance of him moving back down to compete at cruiserweight

In his second fight in the division Adamek weighed 220 pounds and in the early rounds was moving like a light heavyweight.  The opening rounds where competitive however you could see the difference in skill between the two fighters as Adamek showed his defensive prowess.

The 33 year old Adamek settles into a rhythm and dominated the mid rounds with a blend of working his opponent to the body while controlling the distance.  Estrada 16-3, (4) took over in the later rounds as Adamek began to tire, the next couple of rounds “Big Six” continued forward imposing the extra weight.  In the eleventh Ademek threw combinations to the body and head, both traded to end the round with Estrada ending the round with his arm raised as he had done in several previous rounds.

What’s next for Adamek, before tonight’s fight there was rumours circulating that Cristobal Arreola will be his next opponent.  A fight that is sure to entertain the fans.  Arreola “The Nightmare” is a big heavyweight with a record of 28-1, (25).  His one defeat came when challenging WBC champion Vitali Klitschko last September.  Arreola will be a true test for Adamek; the Californian packs a punch and has a proven chin.  The winner would surely have secured them self a world title shot.
