Carl Froch “My Aim Proceed to the semi finals to seek revenge on Kessler”

By Rick Burns: Carl “The Cobra” Froch is due to meet hard hitting German based Armenian, Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 Kos) at the Principauté de Monaco, Monaco on October 2.

Froch lost his WBA super middleweight title in April while making his third defence, the Nottingham fighter suffered the first loss of his career via a unanimous decision in Herning, Denmark.

Abraham, the only fighter to score a knockout in the super six tournament to date lost his last bout via a disqualification.  The tough Abraham was way behind on the official scorecard when in the eleventh round he landed a blow on Andre Dirrell, while the American was on one knee after a slip.  Dirrell was knocked out cold when referee Lawrence Cole ruled the bout a disqualification. The loss was also Abraham’s first defeat.
“My Aim Proceed and progress to the semi finals to seek revenge on Mikkel Kessler on neutral territory to get my title back” said the 33-year-old Froch.

Froch expressed his desire to fight on home soil at his beloved Nottingham Forrest, City Stadium, fighting at home in a football venue with all your fans would be the pinnacle and better than the glitz of any Vegas Casino, Froch told the BBC.

The coach of Froch, Robert McCracken spoke confidently of his fighter’s chances of proceeding to the semi finals, “I hope the draw goes Carl’s way so he has the opportunity to avenge the loss to Kessler, Carl still harbours a sense of grievance in losing his title in Denmark.  I feel anyone who knows anything would favour Carl in the rematch.
