Floyd Mayweather Jr Running Out of Excuses to Avoid Fighting Pacquiao

By Leo Reyes:Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may be running out of excuses to avoid having a fight with Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. Informed of Pacquiao's consent on a 14-day window for random blood test, Mayweather is now 'singing a new tune'.

Early this year, Pacquiao and Mayweather have set a date and venue (March 13 at MGM Grand) for what could have been the biggest boxing event of 2010. But the mega fight failed to happen because of Mayweather's insistence that Pacquiao submits himself to an Olympic-style random blood and urine tests in the months, days and hours before the fight.

Pacquiao declined Mayweather's demand but later agreed to have it done 24 days before the fight. Mayweather did not agree but proposed a 14-day window instead. But Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter has already pulled out from the negotiation when the option was made and the fight was called off.

Pacquiao, in his effort to give the boxing fans the fight they want to see, finally agreed to Mayweather's demand for a 14-day blood and urine test window but when informed of Pacquiao's decision, the undefeated boxer is now singing a new and different tune. Quoting

The Examiner, Philstar.com says:
But an article came out of The Examiner yesterday reminding everyone that Mayweather, the flamboyant, undefeated American, wants the blood tests done as he had always wanted, on the days closer to the fight. “I gave him (Pacquiao) a chance, up to 14 days out. But my new terms are all the way up to the fight. They can come get us whenever, all the way up to the fight, random drug test. That’s what it is,” Mayweather was quoted as saying.

While Bob Arum is trying his best to give in to the demands of millions of boxing fans around the world for the opportunity to watch the much-hyped Pacquiao-Mayweather match, the undefeated boxer seems to be more concerned about keeping his zero loss record by trying to avoid a ring encounter with the Filipino boxer.

Mayweather is now saying that he has come up with a new term or condition for Pacquiao to consider, before he agrees to fight.

Ronnie Nathanielsz of www.insidesports.ph reported yesterday that when Mayweather fought Shane Mosley last May 1, the last ounce of blood (testing) from both fighters were drawn 18 and 19 days before the fight.

“Arum noted, ‘by saying 14 days were required by USADA, if this fight doesn’t happen clearly there is only one person to blame and that’s Mayweather. These are all excuses made by him to avoid fighting Pacquiao,’” Nathanielsz wrote.

If the last blood test on the Mosley - Mayweather fight last May 1 was made 18 and 19 days before the fight, why shouldn't it be the same with the Filipino boxer? Pacquiao is even agreeable to a 14 day window instead of 18 and 19 for Mosley and Mayweather.

This is the question that some boxing fans are asking. Hopefully, Mayweather and his promoters can come up with some honest straight-forward answers.

Did Floyd Mayweather used PEDs in the past??? Mayweather beat Hatton in Dec. 2007, in Jan 2008 boxing started out with complete drug testing. In middle May of 08, they updated it and said promoters would not be notified before hand and fighters had 24 hours to take the test. Floyd who was scheduled to fight Oscar in the re-match and make 30million went on every sports channel and said he we beat Oscar again, suddenly “officially” retires in early July. And by retiring making him inelgible to the random drug testing. Then build up more naturally and fight Marquez. So why did Floyd Mayweather Jr. retire so quickly and not face Oscar De La Hoya for a $30 million payday??? The answer could be because of random blood testing.

Stop making excuses for Pacquiao, no one likes giving blood. Dam it's like use think he will be the only one taking the test. Are use forgetting Mayweather will be subject to the same test.
